An MCP server for AI browser games

By the OttersPlay editors · Updated

OttersPlay publishes a remote Model Context Protocol server so an assistant can search the directory instead of guessing. The endpoint is https://ottersplay.com/mcp/. It speaks Streamable HTTP, needs no account, and can search the catalog or prepare a submission email. It does not send messages or change listings.

The catalog behind it has 97 AI-made games, including 22 jam winners and awardees. A game is included when the catalogue marks it ai-made, it is still online, and the write-up does not say it rebuilds a commercial game from its ROM or retail files.

What you can ask

  • Find a multiplayer browser game made with Claude that works on a phone.
  • What won Vibe Jam 2026?
  • Give me a random puzzle game made with AI.
  • How was Bash Fighter built, and where do I play it?
  • Prepare a OttersPlay submission email for my game, including its gameplay, controls and creator credits.

Tools

ToolWhat it returns
search_gamesGames matching a query, genre, AI tool, engine, multiplayer, or phone support. Up to 25 at a time.
get_gameOne game by its slug: description, creator, how it was made, controls, sources, AI tools, and engine.
list_trendingAI-made games OttersPlay currently marks as trending, most in demand first.
random_gameOne AI-made game, optionally filtered the same way as search.
list_jam_winnersJam winners and category awards. Filter with a name such as Vibe Jam 2026.
prepare_game_submissionA validated email draft for human editorial review: recipient, subject, body and mailto link. It does not send or save a submission.

Game search results have two links. pageUrl is the OttersPlay page, and the one to cite. playUrl is the creator’s site, which is where the game runs. aiTools and engine are the credits on that game. An empty tool list means the creator did not name one.

Submit a game by email

Read the AI submission instructions or the JSON Schema, then call prepare_game_submission with the game's name, official URL, type, summary, gameplay, controls, creator name and contact email. Optional fields cover AI tools, engine, phone support, multiplayer, sources, artwork and embedding permission.

The tool returns status: "draft" and sent: false. Ask for missing required facts and leave unknown optional facts unspecified. Let the submitter review the result, then use an authorized email tool to send it or give them the draft to send themselves. Never report delivery based on draft generation. A listing is subject to editorial review.

The same instructions are exposed as the MCP resource https://ottersplay.com/submit/ai.txt. People can use the submission form and email template.

Connect

Use the URL as a remote MCP server. There is no API key and no command to install.

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or the project’s .cursor/mcp.json), then enable the server in Cursor Settings → MCP.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "ottersplay": {
      "url": "https://ottersplay.com/mcp/"
    }
  }
}

Claude

In Claude Desktop or claude.ai, add a custom connector named OttersPlay with the URL https://ottersplay.com/mcp/. From Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http ottersplay https://ottersplay.com/mcp/

The same JSON as Cursor works in claude_desktop_config.json when the app accepts a remote url.

ChatGPT

Turn on developer mode for connectors, create a connector, and paste https://ottersplay.com/mcp/. Leave authentication empty. The server does not use OAuth.

VS Code and other clients

Clients that ask for a transport type want Streamable HTTP:

{
  "servers": {
    "ottersplay": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://ottersplay.com/mcp/"
    }
  }
}

Opening https://ottersplay.com/mcp/ in a browser sends you back to this page. The protocol itself is POST, which is what assistants use.

Frequently asked questions

Does the server need an API key?

No. Search and email-draft preparation are public and need no login. The server does not send email or change listings.

What games are in the MCP catalog?

The server lists verified AI-made browser games built by independent creators. Commercial ports are not indexed.

What URL should the assistant cite?

pageUrl, which looks like https://ottersplay.com/games/bash-fighter/. playUrl is the creator’s own site, where the game actually runs.
