About Halo: Combat Evolved

Combat Lab is Mitchell Hynes’s independent browser runtime for Halo CE. Import a compatible XISO from your own disc; game data is not included.

Combat Lab loads a WebAssembly runtime in your browser and asks you to choose a compatible XISO made from a disc you own. According to the setup screen, the image is processed locally and the imported files stay in that browser. Opening the website alone does not supply a Halo campaign or a retail disc image.

The current interface includes campaign loading, a Focus game button, game settings, diagnostics and an online multiplayer panel with room invites. These are the host’s interface options; available rooms and imported game content determine what you can actually start. OttersPlay does not provide a disc image or guarantee a populated server.

On a desktop, use Focus game to capture the pointer. The host lists keyboard and mouse controls alongside controller bindings. Its diagnostics panel reports runtime performance and memory information, which is useful if importing the game succeeds but loading stalls. Keep a copy of your original files outside browser storage.

This directory entry preserves the former Halo browser URL and explains the current destination. For an instant shooter that does not ask for a disc image, browse the separate action games recommended above. Those are other projects and are not replacement copies of Halo.

About the game

The former mitchellhynes.com/halo address now redirects to Combat Lab, an independently maintained browser runtime by Mitchell Hynes. Its own setup screen says it is not operated or supported by the upstream project or the original game’s creators, and that game data is not included.
