About San Francisco: The Game
San Francisco rebuilt from map data. Climb buildings, take cars, run into other players.
A recreation of real San Francisco you can explore freely. Walk, climb buildings, take cars, or ride a hang glider over the hills. Type any address or coordinates into 'Go anywhere' or click the minimap to teleport.
There's no score and no mission list: it is a sandbox. Players asked for, and got, opt-in multiplayer with chat, avatar colors and shareable location links.
How San Francisco: The Game was made with AI
Simonian, a Stanford computer science student, built it with GPT-5.6 Sol in OpenAI Codex and posted a demo on 24 August 2026 that passed 930,000 views. The city geometry comes from Apple Maps data. IBM Think and Hoodline both covered it, and it hit the Hacker News front page.
Made by Thijs Simonian (@cdngdev).
