About Three.js Quake

The creator of Three.js rebuilt Quake's shareware episode for the web with Claude.

This is id Software's 1996 Quake running on Three.js instead of the original software renderer. It ships with the shareware data file (pak0.pak), so Episode 1, Dimension of the Doomed, is playable straight away.

If you own the full game, the README explains that you can swap in the registered pak0.pak to unlock the other episodes. The code also includes a multiplayer room mode on mrdoob's server, reached with a ?room= link, and WebXR support for VR headsets.

How Three.js Quake was made with AI

mrdoob ported Quake to Three.js working with Claude. The repo README credits the project as a 'Three.js port by @mrdoob with @claude', and his dev log opens with the prompt 'Okay Claude, can you help me port Quake to Three.js?'. The code is open source under GPL v2, the same license as id Software's original engine release.

Made by Ricardo Cabello (mrdoob), creator of Three.js.
